ACTS Toolkit Online Information Center Opens

On August 24, 1998, the National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center (NERSC) announced the opening of the ACTS Toolkit Online Information Center . The ACTS Toolkit is a collection of DOE-developed tools that can make it easier to write parallel programs.

The ACTS Toolkit encompasses some twenty different tools including PETSc, ScaLAPACK, Aztec, Globus, TAU, Global Arrays, and many others. NERSC T3E Users, as well as others, are encouraged to browse through the ACTS web pages to see if any of these tools might be of use.

Currently PETSc and ScaLAPACK are installed and supported on the NERSC T3E, and other tools will be added on the basis of user requests and suitability for support. It is anticipated that support for Aztec and TAU will be added shortly. NERSC has a project to evaluate the toolkit and to support its use in applications and is particularly interested in working with users who are developing codes that might benefit from one or more tools in the toolkit, and who are willing to work closely with NERSC to integrate an ACTS tool into their code. If you are interested in this program, please contact acts-support@nersc.gov.

Support for ACTS tools is also available through the usual NERSC mechanisms (consult@nersc.gov).
