First Nek5000 hackathonNovember 8, 2017
The first Nek5000 hackathon will be held Nov. 12–14, 2017, at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
Nek5000 is a scalable fluid-mechanics and heat-transfer simulation code developed in the Mathematics and Computer Science Division at Argonne. Applications span a wide range of fields, including fluid flow, thermal convection, combustion, and magnetohydrodynamics.
The objective of the hackathon is to help new and current users bring their applications into production mode. Users will also have the opportunity to provide feedback to the Nek5000 development team on what features they would like in future releases.
Like most hackathons, there is no formal agenda. For this event, each participant or team is asked to develop a small example to share with the rest of the user community.
