Description:
While the number of flops (floating point operations per second) of high performance computing systems has been steadily increasing, other performance aspects such as I/O speed have failed to keep up. As a result, I/O more and more dominates application execution time. This lecture will provide an introduction to parallel I/O, a technique aimed at increasing application I/O throughput.
