Description:
Fotis Sotiropoulos is the James L. Record professor of Civil Engineering, the director of the St. Anthony Falls Laboratory, and the director of the Department of Energy funded EOLOS wind energy research consortium at the University of Minnesota. His research centers on computational techniques for studying a broad range of interdisciplinary fluid mechanics problems in environmental hydrodynamics, wind and water power, cardiovascular hemodynamics, and aquatic swimming. His work is sponsored by NSF, NIH, DOE and the private industry. He is a fellow of the American Physical Society, recipient of a NSF Career award, and serves as an associate editor for the ASME Journal of Biomechanical Engineering and the ASCE Journal of Hydraulic Engineering.
