Mathematics and Computer Science Division Seminar
"Compiler and Runtime Based I/O Power and Performance Optimization"
DATE: July 10, 2008
TIME: 10:30 am
SPEAKER: Seung Woo Son, Pennsylvania State University
LOCATION: Building 221 Conference Room A216, Argonne National Laboratory
HOST: Rob Ross and Rajeev Thakur
Description:
I/O performance has been a critical factor in determining overall performance of many large-scale applications that access disk-resident data frequently. In addition to this, power and cooling costs by high-performance systems keep increasing, and storage subsystem is known to be one of major contributors to overall power budget. In this talk, we will present several techniques towards optimizing power and performance of I/O subsystem from the perspective of both the compiler and runtime system.
