Mathematics and Computer Science Division Seminar
"An Introduction to Threading Building Blocks"

DATE: April 15, 2009
TIME: 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM
SPEAKER: James Cownie, Principle Engineer, Intel Corp., United Kingdom
LOCATION: Building 221 Conference Room A216, Argonne National Laboratory

Description:
Threading Building Blocks (TBB) is an open source (GPL) C++ template library which provides portable support for shared memory task parallelism. It works on Linux, Windows, and Solaris as well as more exotic systems (e.g. Xbox). Its aim is to support scalable parallelism by letting you focus on the tasks which make up your problem rather than the threads which happen to execute it. This presentation will provide a short introduction to TBB and give a flavor of how it can be used.
