Ian Foster, Ti Leggett, Mike Papka, Mike Wilde Win the Analytics Challenge at SC07!

Ian Foster, Ti Leggett, Mike Papka, and Mike Wilde were part of the team that won the Analytics Challenge at SC07 for presenting a new approach for protecting cyberinfrastructure. The project Angle, is led by the National Center for Data Mining (NCDM) at the University of Illinois at Chicago and including participants from Northwestern University, the University of Chicago, Argonne National Laboratory and the University of Southern California.

Argonne, Virginia Tech Win Storage Challenge Competition

A team of researchers led by Pavan Balaji of Argonne National Laboratory and Wu Feng of Virginia Tech won an international competition for the most effective approach in using large-scale storage for high-performance computing. The award was presented November 15 at SC|07, the world's premier conference on high- performance computing and networking.

New Theory and Computing Sciences Building to be Constructed at Argonne National Laboratory

The U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Argonne National Laboratory announced today that a new Theory and Computing Sciences Building will be constructed at the laboratory, solidifying the fastest growing research program in its history.

TeraGrid 08 Call for Participation

The TeraGrid has emerged as a leading comprehensive cyberinfrastructure enabling world-class open computational research. The 3rd annual TeraGrid Conference, TeraGrid ’08, will showcase the capabilities, achievements, and impact of TeraGrid in research and education through presented papers, demonstrations, posters, and visualizations. TG08 will foster collaborations among leading researchers, developers, and educators that build on the growing TeraGrid infrastructure. TG08 will also provide information and training to enable both current and future users to achieve maximum impact in using TeraGrid resources and services.

ALCF Tutorial at SciDAC 2008

Kalyan Kumaran, Manager, Performance Engineering and Data Analytics, at the ALCF will present a tutorial on \"Porting and Scaling Applications on ALCF\'s Blue Gene/P\" on July 18 in Redmond, WA. A day of tutorials on SciDAC-supported research is being held in conjunction with the upcoming SciDAC 2008 conference.
