"Argonne Researchers Co-Author 9 of the 22 Best Papers of HPDC in Past 20 Years"
According to the International ACM Symposium on High-Performance Parallel and Distributed Computing (HPDC) researchers in Argonne’s Mathematics and Computer Science Division have co-authored 9 of the top 22 papers in the past 20 years of publications.
HPDC is the premier computer science conference for presenting new results relating to large-scale, high-performance parallel and distributed systems used in both science and industry. For the past 20 years, HPDC has been at the center of new discoveries in clusters, grids, clouds, and parallel and multicore computers.
The top papers from Argonne, as listed below, covered topics ranging from the Globus Toolkit and its applications in grid computing, to management of large-scale distributed scientific collaborations, to a common component architecture for high-performance computing.
· Security for Grid Services, 2003, Von Welch, Frank Siebenlist, Ian Foster, John Bresnahan, Karl Czajkowski, Jarek Gawor, Carl Kesselman, Sam Meder, Laura Pearlman, Steven Tuecke
· Decoupling Computation and Data Scheduling in Distributed Data-Intensive Applications, 2002, Kavitha Ranganathan, Ian Foster
· Condor-G: A Computation Management Agent for Multi-Institutional Grids, 2001, James Frey, Todd Tannenbaum, Miron Livny, Ian Foster, Steven Tuecke
· Grid Information Services for Distributed Resource Sharing, 2001, Karl Czajkowski, Steven Fitzgerald, Ian Foster, Carl Kesselman
· An Online Credential Repository for the Grid: MyProxy, 2001, Jason Novotny, Steven Tuecke, Von Welch
· An Enabling Framework for Master-Worker Applications on the Computational Grid, 2000, Jean-Pierre Goux, Sanjeev Kulkarni, Jeff Linderoth, Michael Yoder
· Toward a Common Component Architecture for High-Performance Scientific Computing, 1999, Rob Armstrong, Dennis Gannon, Al Geist, Katarzyna Keahey, Scott Kohn, Lois McInnes, Steve Parker, Brent Smolinski
· Resource Co-Allocation in Computational Grids, 1999, Karl Czajkowski, Ian Foster, Carl Kesselman
· Application Experiences with the Globus Toolkit, 1998, Sharon Brunett, Karl Czajkowski, Steven Fitzgerald, Ian Foster, Andrew Johnson, Carl Kesselman, Jason Leigh, Steven Tuecke
The selection process began with paper nominations by the HPDC community-at-large. A committee then selected the top group of 22 papers. A special proceedings issue containing the top papers will be produced and distributed at the HPDC’s 2012 meeting to be held June 18-22 in Delft, The Netherlands.
