Cosmin Petra obtained a B.S. in Mathematics and Computer Science from Babes-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca, Romania and a M.S. and Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from University of Maryland, Baltimore Co. (UMBC). He joined the Argonne's Mathematics and Computer Science Division in 2009 as a postdoctoral researcher. His primary research focus is on large-scale numerical optimization, stochastic programming and parallel algorithms for the optimization of complex energy systems under uncertainty.
