If you want to save a local version of the student notes, you should also download the stylesheet, notes.css, from the same directory.

Tutorial prereqs for those who want to follow along with the exercises on their laptops:

• jakarta ant 1.5 or 1.6
• jdk 1.4.2
• NTP synchronization with server of choice
• VMware emulation not supported
• Cygwin not supported
• Firewall software must be disabled
• Windows ME/95/98 is not supported. Regarding other OSes: if you can run the jdk and ant you should be ok

(Ant/jdk installations can be verified by building this sample code: Linux version or MS Windows version.)

In addition you should obtain one of the following code sets, but do not install them (installation is part of Exercise 1). To ease net congestion, please copy the data from one of the sticks floating around the classroom.

1. For students who will build/execute on unix machines, download but do not untar:
• unix GT install
• unix student code


2. For students who will build/execute on windows machines, download but do not unzip:
• windows GT install
• windows student code
