Course Resources
Courses We Frequent
Living around Argonne, we tend to head to courses in the western
Chicago suburbs. Here are the ones we often play, with pointers to
useful resources.
-
West Park, in Joliet.; 18 holes, awesome course.
A map.
-
Madison Meadows, in Lombard. 18 holes, fairly long.
Eric and Brian's page for it, with map.
-
Lombard Commons Park, in Lombard. 9 holes, but still quite nice.
Eric and Brian's page for it, with map.
- O'Brien Park, in Downers Grove.
9 holes, pretty simple -- but conveniently close to home.
- The O'Brien 18. During the winter, the park district takes down
a buncha holes. Here's how we
play 18 holes there anyway.
-
Knoch Knoll's Park, in Naperville.
Eric and Brian's page for it, with, of course, a map..
Courses We've Visited
Wisconsin
Illinois
-
Channahon, near Joliet.
Notes from when we played.
- New Lenox, near Joliet.
Pictures.
- Urbana, Illini Meadows. 2 hours south of Chicago. 9 holes, which
were in the process of getting removed for some new building when Brian,
Stu, Joe and I played it during Allliance '98. Sniff.
California
-
DeLaveaga, in Santa Cruz, California. I made it there alone after
SC97. It was an amazing course. Almost worth a flight out.

-
Grass Valley. I visited in the fall of 1998. Didn't write up
a course report, but it was a nice course, in a heavily wooded park.
Definitely worth a trip if within an hour or so.
Washington
Minnesota
New Mexico
Oklahoma
-
Broadlawn Park, Ardmore. I happened to be in the area... this
was a sadly run down park, obviously once loved. It was ok, but
nothing really challenging.
