Notes on the first time we played Channahon, July 19th, 1998

... from there, we went to Channahon and played the 18 holes. The course is fairly long. It reminds me a lot of the Lombard 18, in that it's fairly flat, and doesn't have a lot of really challenging obstacles like West Park.

However, it's harder than Lombard in two ways. First, the course is essentially out in the sticks. The main "fairways" have been mowed, and are about 15 feet wide. If you go out of those, you wander into grass about 6 feet high, and hunt for your disc for a while. Second, the ground is kind of marshy, so there are some interesting water/bog hazards in a few places.

All in all, my recommendation is that if you are going to drive to Joliet, you may as well play WestPark, not Channahon.
