GRAFCHORD and SCORE - Programs for Score Editing and Printing

The output of the composition program MP1 - an ASCII file containing numerical information - is translated into a musical score via the grafChord interface and the commercially available Score printing program. The transcription of a 12-minute chamber music work, which would take a few weeks when done by hand, takes only a few minutes when done by grafChord on an RS/6000. The actual editing and printing, though, takes much longer, since Score (which is the most sophisticated printing program available today) running on an SGI 02 and was not intended for automatic transcription of music.
