Global
Grid Forum Workshop on October 8, 2003 - Chicago, Illinois, USA. |
|
The recent release of
the first Open Grid Services Architecture (OGSA) specifications and
implementations has spurred much interest in the definition and development
of Grid services and service-oriented distributed applications. The Workshop
on Designing and Building Grid Services provides an opportunity for those
engaged in this work to exchange views and experiences on such issues as
design methodologies and principles, tooling, application requirements,
benchmarking, reuse, debugging, service orchestration, scalability, and
interoperability. We are interested in hearing people talk about what makes
for a good Grid service (or a bad service), how to organize service data,
approaches to factoring problems into services, views on service lifetime
and granularity, experiences with building Grid services, and thoughts on
how to teach Grid service design. We are less interested in details of
specific Open Grid Service Infrastructure implementations, or descriptions
of applications for which no OGSA implementation exists.Format and locationThe workshop will take place on Wednesday, October 8th, 2003, from 1pm to 7:30pm. It will be held in conjunction with GGF9, which takes place in Chicago, Illinois, during the week of October 6-10, 2003. The workshop location will be announced in the near future. How to participatePeople interested in presenting at the workshop are invited to submit position papers of 6 pages or less that exposes a new problem, advocates a specific solution, or reports on actual experience. Presentations will be invited based on the originality, technical merit, and topical relevance of their submissions, as well as the likelihood that the ideas expressed in their submissions will lead to insightful technical discussions at the workshop. Please do not submit abbreviated versions of journal or conference papers. Important DatesPosition papers were due by September 7th, 2003. The submissions are now closed; the preliminary program is available. The workshop will be held on October 8th. PublicationOnline copies of the position papers will be made available via the Web prior to the workshop. We are negotiating to publish revised versions of all or selected position papers in a special issue of the Journal of Grid Computing after the workshop.
