A number of groups are beginning
to assemble collections of ``real'' application programs that can be used to
measure performance on parallel machines. Two of these such efforts are the
SPLASH project at Stanford [25] and the Perfect Club Benchmarks
[2]. Portable versions of the codes make them much more useful.
The SPLASH codes have been converted to use p4's shared-memory
operations, and work is in progress to convert the Perfect Club benchmarks to
p4's message-passing operations.
