The main task of the CCA Forum,
which is open to the scientific community, is to define a component
software model that specifically targets high-performance scientific
applications. In addition to producing a specification, the CCA Forum
addresses technical issues, such as transition from legacy code to
components, high-performance adaptive runtime
environments for component applications, and multilanguage components
I am involved in several projects that deal with issues
arising when component-based software engineering practices are applied
the development of scientific components. My work includes the
common interfaces and implementation of numerical components, defining
quality of service architecture for scientific components, and software
infrastructure for the development and deployment of scientific
components. I have been an active
