My summer at MCS in MPICH group proved to be an invaluable learning experience. Generally, the atmosphere was quite catering and it was a pleasure to share ideas and learn from the best in the field. Specific accomplishments included the following: - a more specific understanding of MPICH2, its code, and its strategies - the beginning of factorization of common channel code within the MPICH2 code base - extending the SMP (ssm) MPICH2 channel to do MPI-2 dynamic processing, allowing shared memory between any processes when on the same host - helped ask questions about future process manager interface design requirements in order to elegantly cater for dynamic processing support - understanding of previous research papers performed by MCS members - offered feedback to common communication subsystem postdoc developers Overall, I can say that I learned a tremendous amount this summer and had a great experience within MCS. For the future, researching ties have been created hopefully allowing for future collaboration(s). Brad Penoff
