Globus Toolkit Used for Constructing the ASCI Computational Grid

The Globus Project (a collaborative effort among researchers at Argonne National Laboratory, the University of Southern California Information Sciences Institute, and the University of Chicago) seeks to provide software tools that make it easier to build computational grids and grid-based applications. These tools are collectively called the Globus Toolkit.

The Department of Energy has recently accredited the Globus-based Distributed Resource Management (DRM) environment at Sandia National Laboratory for use in the ASCI (Accelerated Strategic Computational Infrastructure) program. Through the process of accreditation, the DRM team has demonstrated that the Globus Toolkit can be used as the basis for a secure, robust computational grid.
