parallel volume rendering of a core-collapse supernova

Convert dark matter tracer particles to in situ Voronoi meshes in cosmological simulations.

Join a vibrant multidisciplinary research team of computer scientists in suburban Chicago and discover parallel scalable algorithms for analysis, visualization, and storage of extreme-scale scientific data. We are funded by the DOE SciDAC Scientific Data Analysis and Visualization (SDAV) Center, the DOE Center for Exascale Simulation of Advanced Reactors (CESAR), and several other projects in cosmology, fluid dynamics, and materials science. Integrate your research into parallel simulations running on some of the world's largest supercomputers and collaborate with scientists at Argonne and in the international community. Our postdoc program, renewable annually for up to 3 years, provides a rare opportunity to grow your scientific skills while advancing your career and was recently recognized nationally (ranked 6th) in the Scientist Magazine's 2012 survey of 30 best US postdoc programs.

The ideal candidate will have comprehensive knowledge in C/C++ programming under Unix/Linux, and experience in data analysis and/or scientific visualization, including one or more of the following: statistical analysis, graph analysis, data mining, visualization of scalar and vector multivariate data. Experience in software development for parallel computing is a plus. Candidates should have earned a Ph.D. in computer science within the past three years.
