The MCS Systems Group is responsible for the computing and networking environment in MCS. This includes all kinds of cool stuff... supercomputers, large clusters, massive storage archives, laptops, UNIX workstations, an NT environment, and a fairly complicated network with a lot of wide area interactions and research activity. In the course of building and maintaining our environment, we develop systems software and systems administration utilities. Our releases are organized into two different toolkits.

• Msys - The MCS Systems Administration Toolkit
  This package of software includes a number of systems administration utilities. These assist a team of system administrators in managing a computing environment by automating routine tasks and centralizing information.
   
  
• City - The MCS Large Cluster Systems Software Toolkit
  This package of software includes a number of utilities for managing a Linux cluster. This is what we use on Chiba City, our 256-node Linux Cluster.
