City

City is the set of software, tools, and procedures that we have developed to help run the clusters in the MCS Division. They are focused on building and supporting Chiba City, the MCS Scalable Cluster.

"city_db" is the central database for information about managed machines. Various other City tools access the database for machine information.

city_startup 0.0.9 16 March 2000 Status: Pre-Release
"city_startup" is a set of scripts that start various city services. Some services require database queries to get the proper information needed to start (sanity, conserver..). This package contains utilities that will dynamically create config files etc from the CityDB.

city_power 0.0.9 9 October 2000 Status: Pre-Release
"city_power" is a little utility that we use to power nodes on/off. It has support for user defined power on/off/cycle modules. Right now, it has a soft-power off/reboot (rsh /bin/) and a hard-power baytech on/off/reboot.

city_mayormount 0.0.9 9 October 2000 Status: Pre-Release
"city_mayormount" is a tool that allows any node on the system to hard mount NFS exports from it's manager node. It's used for mayor's when they are mounting their city mayor's nfs exports as well.

city_makebootdisk 0.0.9 9 October 2000 Status: Pre-Release
"city_makebootdisk" will create a chiba bootdisk for you. This disk is a simple linux bootfloppy with a static kernel installed with a serial line LILO acting as the boot loader.

"city_buildscript" is the script that is invoked by a startup script in our city_rootnfs package. It handles the image creation and or node creation idea of the cluster system.

imgdisk 1.0.1 4 April 2000 Status: Release
This tool saves & restores disk images: the partition table, the Master Boot Record (disk boot sector), partition boot records, and ext2 file system contents. It can also restore swap partitions.
