ADIFOR development has been funded by the Department of Energy, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, and the National Science Foundation, through the Center for Research on Parallel Computation.
Chris Bischof and Alan Carle were awarded the Wilkinson Prize for Numerical Software in 1995 for their development of ADIFOR.
