Ahmed Attia!

Ahmed Attia, PhD

I am an assistant computational mathematician in the Mathematics and Computer Science Division, Argonne National Laboratory, Lemont, USA. I am also part of the Laboratory for Applied Mathematics and Numerical Software (LANS), at Argonne.

Previously, I was a postdoc at Argonne, a SAMSI research fellow, and a member of the SAMSI Program on Optimization. I was also affiliated with the Department of Mathematics at North Carolina State University.

I received my PhD degree (2016) in Computer Science and Applications from Virginia Tech. This, forever, makes me a HOKIE!

I was a member of the data assimilation, and uncertainty quantification group in the Computational Science Lab. Advised by Prof. Adrian Sandu, my PhD thesis was mainly about developing efficient and scalable algorithms for solving fully non-linear and non-Gaussian data assimilation problems.
