Professional Experience

Mathematics and Computer Science Division, Argonne National Laboratory, June 2014 — current.

Assistant Computer Scientist at Mathematics and Computer Science Division, mentored by Dr. Peter H. Beckman

Perform research in Computing Systems with an emphasis in sensor driven computation and computa- tionally steered sensing and actuation - electronic hardware, sensors, actuators and computing-system software, Linux OS and Cyber-physical systems. Collaborate closely with researchers from various di- visions in the laboratory and other institutions, and participate in conceiving new research goals and problem solving techniques. Other duties performed include proposal writing, focus area development, student mentoring and dissemination of research results.

Mathematics and Computer Science Division, Argonne National Laboratory, July 2011 — May

2014.

Postdoctoral Researcher at Mathematics and Computer Science Division, advised by Sr. Sci. Charles Catlett

Perform research in Computing Systems with an emphasis in distributed embedded systems - electronic hardware, sensors, actuators and computing-system software, and Cyber-physical systems. Collaborate closely with researchers from various divisions in the laboratory and participate in conceiving new research goals and problem solving techniques. Other duties performed include proposal writing, focus area development, student mentoring and dissemination of research results.

Center for Computation and Technology, Louisiana State University, 2005 — 2011.

Research Assistant at the Tangible Visualization Laboratory, with Dr. Brygg Ullmer

Perform research in Electrical and Computer Engineering with emphasis on Embedded Systems and Human-computer Interaction. Job duties included mentoring junior undergraduate and graduate stu- dents, and dissemination of research results. Developed the software and hardware architecture, de- signed and fabricated circuits, developed communication protocols, firmware and software stacks for a multi-module embedded computing platform for highly parallel tasks. Lead designer and architect for Blades & Tiles platform and several Human-computer Interaction projects involving the platform. Mentored about a dozen graduate, undergraduate and high-school school students.

Mathematics and Computer Science Division, Argonne National Laboratory, May — August

2010.

Summer Intern at RADIX: Laboratory for Scalable and Parallel Programming Tools, with Dr. Kamil Iskra

Perform academic research in distributed embedded systems - sensors and actuators, and system soft- ware for HPC cluster physical environment monitoring. Developed a wired (Ethernet, SPI, RS-232 and I2C) and wireless (IEEE 802.11 and 802.15.4) sensor envelope testbed for acquiring and analyzing real-time environmental (temperature, humidity, airflow etc.) parameters from air-cooled computing clusters. Developed embedded sensor modules, embedded GNU/Linux based data aggregation and analysis platform and system software+hardware architecture.

Department of Physics and Astronomy, Louisiana State University, May — August 2005.

Hardware Programmer - LAXATEV Payload, with Dr. Michael Cherry

Developed a PC/104 x86 based platform for interfacing with photo-multiplier tubes (PMT) and sensing high-altitude gamma-ray/X-ray emissions. The system interfaced with the PMT hardware chain, sensed events and stored the event data on a solid state storage device. Worked in a team of 8 experimental physicists, hardware and software researchers.
